The ESL – Business English (Evenings) program is designed to help new arrivals or other immigrants to the region improve their English skills with a focus on Business English.
They will learn to express themselves and communicate successfully in everyday and professional situations. They will learn business correspondence; meeting, presentation and interview skills; and improve their language skills across the board: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Students completing the last level on offer, Upper-Intermediate 2, will also be in a good position to progress to an IELTS exam preparation course for study in Canada or for citizen-ship applications.
The course covers 6 levels: Pre-Intermediate 1 & 2 (Canadian Language Benchmark 4-5), Intermediate 1 & 2 (Canadian Language Benchmark 6), and Upper-Intermediate 1 & 2 (Canadian Language Benchmark 7-8).
The final mark is made up of homework, class participation, and test at the end of the course.
Students need an overall mark of 70% or better to graduate from the program
Minimum 18 years.
Appropriate previous English knowledge for the level applying for: Pre-Intermediate, Inter-mediate, Upper-Intermediate (to be determined by Focus College language placement test)
No one will be excluded from a course, at the most they will be referred to a more appropriate level of course for their needs.
Instructional hours for this course is 3 evenings a week for 10 weeks, 45 hours total
• A minimum of 80% attendance is required.
• All assignments / exams have to be completed.
• Final score of 70% or higher.
10 weeks of classes:
- Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
- 5:30 PM – 7 PM
- April 9th – June 15th
