The British Columbia Tech Industry is booming. There are hundreds of start-ups and large businesses making BC their home. But did you know that the tech industry growth causes resource demand?
In January 2016, the BC Provincial government created a five-year plan to improve the province’s tech sector through the following areas:
Even though the original B.C. tech strategy plan was developed under a different provincial leadership group, Premiere John Horgan said that the B.C. tech strategy was on track. He felt we still were not doing enough to keep British Columbia ahead of the competition within the tech sector. Horgan promised to invest $100 million to “expand technology-related post-secondary programs and invest in information and communications, digital media and entertainment, life sciences and health, clean-tech, IT, engineering and more.” As well as building technology and innovation centres in key areas of B.C.’s economy. It’s clear that even with a change in leadership that technology will always be at the forefront of British Columbia’s economy.
In today’s world, anyone who has a background with some technology knowledge has an advantage over someone who doesn’t. In the coming years programming and tech skills will be even more desirable. Get involved, take classes, and continue to learn everything you can.
“Everyone should learn how to program a computer… It teaches you how to think” – Steve Jobs

Updated March 16, 2020
Due to the current pandemic and the desire to protect the health of our students, Focus College is taking measures which incorporate social isolation.
We are suspending our Advanced Diploma and Office Manager courses for the week of March 16-20th, to allow for temporary distance learning to be set up. If any students do not have access to a computer from home, we request that they notify the college immediately. Further information on how courses will be delivered will be available as the week goes on. Please monitor your student email for further information throughout the week.
Our April intake, originally scheduled for April 6, 2020, will be extended to May 4th, 2020, with late intakes accepted. We will re-evaluate as time goes on and international travel resumes. Focus College will issue contract amendments and updated Letters of Acceptance for students to use when accessing the country prior to the start of the new semester.
Students, please ensure that your email is up to date and that you are able to receive communications directly from Focus College to speed these letters, as these emails will be sent to both your agent and to yourself.
***NOTE: If you are an international student planning to attend spring semester, and you are not impacted by flights, you will need to check into the college on your arrival. Please contact info@focuscollege.com as soon as possible if this is likely to affect you. ***
