Here’s what you need to know about our Business Diploma Co-op Path Program

The Diploma in Business Co-op Path courses provide the practical skills and theoretical business knowledge that employers are looking for.

The program courses cover the central elements of business and management including communications, human resources, economics, and management. This foundation will equip students with an awareness of the key concepts and practices within our ever-evolving business landscape.

Advantages of the Business Diploma Co-op

  • The Diploma in Business Co-op Path program provides students a chance of not only growing their theoretical knowledge, but, with the required work placement, a practical experience as well.
  • The work placement provides the student an opportunity for ‘hands-on’ application of the concepts they have learned from their studies. Adding this placement to their resume, students in the Diploma in Business Co-op Path program are better positioned for workplace entry and advancement upon completion of their studies.
  • Through their work placement, students in the Business Diploma Co-op Path program will attain the crucial skills demanded by today’s workplace. Practical communication skills, ‘hands-on’ contact with clients, suppliers, supervisors and subordinates will prepare the student for the challenges that await once they complete their studies.
  • During the work term portion of the program, students work full-time providing the resources to pay for their studies before completing the program. If continued studies are desired, these paid placements can also help budget for those expenses.
  • Perhaps most importantly for international students, this program provides tremendous flexibility. If the student wants to follow our pathway to further their studies at the University of the Fraser Valley, this is an option just as it is for our students enrolled in the certificate program.
  • The Co-op path leading to UFV may be the best path to a valuable stay in Canada. Completion of the Diploma Co-op Path followed by enrollment in the general studies program at the University of the Fraser Valley provides the foundation for a post-graduate work permit that totals an additional three years.
  • The work experience component of the Co-op pathway program may help students build the resume required for responsible positions in their field of choice. Jobs with greater responsibility may help international students in their application for Permanent Residency.

Personally my studies at Focus College had taught me to always think independently and use knowledge I’ve gained in my future professional career.

I had a great time at the course and it was very helpful and fun as well.

I am thankful for the faculty that helped me gain that knowledge and has brought a new dimension into my life.
