It’s not always an easy decision to travel to a new country to get a higher education. On one hand, you are excited to move to a different country, see new places, meet new people, and make new friends. On the other, you are venturing into the unknown and you may be asking yourself questions such as, ‘Which college should I choose?’, ‘What education will I receive?’, ‘What opportunities will I have?’ and ‘Will I be able to land a job once I graduate?’
Luckily, Focus College, based in British Columbia, Canada offers resources and support that will not only help make your transition to a new country much easier but will also help make your migration to Canada successful. We want to ensure our international student services team is always available to help our students.
Here are three things that our international student services team offers to all students!
Not everyone is ready to attend university right out of high school. Focus College is the best choice for high school graduates and those looking for an alternative to university. Whether you want to study for a year or two and enter the job market or choose a pathway to university, Focus College has different options to suit your needs.
Most students join a program or course and are not 100% certain that is what they want to do. This is why we make it easy to move from a certificate to a diploma, or transfer to a new college with your current credits.
Students who enroll in the Advanced Certificate in Business at Focus College can transfer credits to the University of Fraser Valley (UFV). You can obtain your General Studies Diploma or continue to UFV’s 4-year Bachelor Integrated Studies Program. This is a great option for international students who are interested in obtaining a PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit). This will help you save money on your education. You can start a career and earn money sooner to continue your education and get a university degree. Please reach out to an Admissions Officer for more information.
At Focus College, we are proud of our alumni and offer unlimited lifetime support to our graduates. We offer a wide range of student services for international students looking to find employment and/or additional education opportunities in Canada once they graduate. This includes assistance in the creation of cover letters and resumes and job search support. In fact, Focus College boasts an 85% graduate placement rate over the last two years.
We work directly with employers and even hire these employers to teach our programs. We have had many students who ended up being hired by their professor! Our team works to bring in the best instructors and work with highly engaging employers. Our goal is simple: help our student succeed.
We had an amazing night to welcome a group of new international students to Canada and make them feel like they are at home. This is just one of the ways we work to ensure our international students have an experience they will never forget.
Canada is one of the most welcoming countries for international students with more than half a million students coming to Canada every year. You can work off-campus to earn money while going to school when enrolled as a full-time international student.
We hope this gives you the confidence you need and makes you feel a bit calmer before taking on this journey! We look forward to welcoming you to Canada and to our Focus College family. 😊
Updated March 16, 2020
Due to the current pandemic and the desire to protect the health of our students, Focus College is taking measures which incorporate social isolation.
We are suspending our Advanced Diploma and Office Manager courses for the week of March 16-20th, to allow for temporary distance learning to be set up. If any students do not have access to a computer from home, we request that they notify the college immediately. Further information on how courses will be delivered will be available as the week goes on. Please monitor your student email for further information throughout the week.
