The Focus College ESL (English as a Second Language) Long Cycle Program is a 1-year language course which takes students from Beginner to Advanced English and helps prepare them for study and work in Canada.
The course is made up of 4 parts:
- Crash – Beginner Level (A2-B1)
- Intermediate (B1-B2)
- Advanced (B2-C1)
- IELTS Academic Exam Preparation – Advanced Level (C1 and higher)
Students who have the necessary language requirements may join the course at Intermediate or Advanced level.
Only successful graduates of the Advanced course who have also been recommended by the college will be invited to join the final part of the program for the IELTS Academic Exam preparation.
The final mark is made up of homework, class participation, and test at the end of the course.
Students need an overall mark of 70% or better to progress to the next course.
A minimum of 80% attendance is required.
All assignments / exams have to be completed.
Final score of 70% or higher.
Minimum 18 years of age.
Students wishing to join the course at the intermediate or advanced levels need to provide proof of language level and take the Focus College language placement test at least 6 weeks before the start of the course.
