The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is a fully accredited public university located in beautiful Abbotsford, British Columbia. UFV is recognized internationally for teaching quality, student success, and an excellent learning environment. With over 15,000 students studying from around the world, UFV offers you learning opportunities that will ensure you are job-ready and equipped to make an impact when you graduate. UFV is large enough to offer variety, and yet our small class sizes allow students to get to know their instructors and learn in a hands-on environment. UFV offers more than 100 programs, including two master’s degrees, 17 bachelor’s degrees, majors, minors, and extended minors in more than 30 subject areas. The strong Cooperative (Co-op) Education program offers students in several disciplines the option of completing a diploma or degree that incorporates paid work experience in their fields.

About the Program


The Focus College Pathway program to the University of Fraser Valley (UFV) is an innovative program designed to provide students with a seamless transition from college to university. The program is designed to provide students with the academic and personal support they need to achieve their goals and succeed in their chosen field of study.

The program is open to students who have completed their studies at Focus College and wish to continue their education at UFV. Upon successful completion of the pathway program, students will have guaranteed admission to UFV and will be able to transfer their credits toward their chosen degree program.

The pathway program is designed to provide students with personalized support, including academic advising, tutoring, and mentoring. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in experiential learning opportunities, such as internships and co-op programs, to gain real-world experience in their field of study.

In addition to the academic support, the program also provides students with the opportunity to build a strong sense of community through social and cultural events, clubs, and organizations.

The Focus College Pathway program is a great option for students who are committed to achieving their academic and career goals and are looking for a supportive and challenging learning environment.

Admission Requirements


Focus College graduates who have completed the Advanced Certificate in Business with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 (calculated on all courses required for the Advanced Certificate), with at least a 60% in each course, will receive 31 credits towards completion of a General Studies Diploma at UFV.

Currently, these 31 credits include, among others, BUS 100: Intro to Business; CMNS 125: Communicating Professionally; CIS 100: Computers and Digital Technology; ECON 100: Principles of Microeconomics; and ECON 101: Principles of Macroeconomics.

Students who complete the General Studies Diploma can apply to continue studies towards a four-year degree in UFV’s Bachelor of Integrated Studies program.

Tuition Fee: $2,500.00
Assessment Fee: $250.00


Total Program Fee: $3,050.00Program fees include 3 months for onsite learning and 6 months for online learning. Extensions can be purchased in increments of 3 months for onsite and 6 months for online.

FAQ


How long does it take to complete the program? 

The onsite instructor-led program is 3 months. 3 additional 3-month extensions can be purchased to allow one year to complete the program. Initial enrolment in the online program is 6 months with an additional 6-month extension available so that you have up to one year to complete your training.

Should I choose the onsite or online option?

If you are local and want to attend an instructor-led, small classroom setting, the onsite option may be perfect for you. If you are located outside of our catchment area, the online program gives you the flexibility to complete the program anywhere in the world where you have access to a computer and the internet. The online program is available 24/7, 365 days a year, so you can study whenever you want to.

Do I need to purchase a textbook or additional materials?

No! Everything you need is included.

Focus College response to Covid-19

Due to the current pandemic and the desire to protect the health of our students, Focus College is taking measures which incorporate social isolation.

For current students:

We are suspending our Advanced Diploma and Office Manager courses for the week of March 16-20th, to allow for temporary distance learning to be set up. If any students do not have access to a computer from home, we request that they notify the college immediately. Further information on how courses will be delivered will be available as the week goes on. Please monitor your student email for further information throughout the week.
