    Focus College is proud to celebrate the successful completion of the Work Fluent ESL Beginner Program by our March 2026 cohort. Over six weeks, students developed essential English language and workplace skills designed to help newcomers and job seekers succeed in today's Canadian workforce. The program combined practical language training with career readiness education, enabling participants to build confidence in professional communication and workplace interactions. What Students Learned: The Work Fluent ESL Beginner Program focused on real-world workplace applications, including: Workplace communication and conversational English Grammar and professional writing skills Resume and cover letter development Customer service fundamentals Workplace health and safety awareness Digital literacy and online workplace tools Zoom and virtual meeting skills LinkedIn profile development and networking Interview preparation and mock interview practice Canadian workplace culture and expectations Teamwork and collaboration skills Digital etiquette and professional conduct Building Confidence for Career Success The Work Fluent ESL program is designed to help learners improve their English while gaining practical skills that can be applied immediately in the workplace.     Focus College successfully delivered a Food Handler Safety Training session at WorkBC Abbotsford on June 16, 2026, helping participants gain the essential knowledge and certification required for safe food handling in British Columbia. The Food Handler Safety Training program is a practical, hands-on course designed to meet British Columbia food safety training requirements for individuals who prepare, handle, or serve food in restaurants, cafés, catering businesses, healthcare facilities, and other food service environments. Following the classroom training, participants complete the official online examination through the provincial certification platform. Upon successfully passing the exam, participants receive a Food Handler Certificate, which is recognized by public health authorities across British Columbia and remains valid for five years. What Participants Learned During the training, participants developed the knowledge and skills needed to: Reduce the risk of food-borne illness through safe food handling practices Comply with BC food safety regulations and workplace standards Prevent contamination and cross-contamination of food, equipment, and surfaces Apply proper personal hygiene practices in food service settings Maintain effective cleaning and sanitization procedures Improve food safety standards and customer confidence Supporting Career Readiness Through Practical Training At Focus College, we are committed to providing industry-relevant training that helps learners build practical skills and improve employment opportunities.
