The Focus College community is heartbroken by the tragic and senseless act of violence that has shaken Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.
Nine lives have been lost, and many more have been injured. Behind every number is a person, a family, a future, and an entire community now carrying grief that should never have been theirs to carry.
Today, At Focus College, we stand in solidarity with Tumbler Ridge. We stand with the families mourning loved ones, with those recovering, and with every student, educator, and resident trying to make sense of the unimaginable. Violence has no place in our schools or our communities. Schools must be places of safety, belonging, and hope, where futures are built, not shattered. This tragedy reinforces the urgent need to strengthen mental health supports, deepen compassion, and protect the dignity and safety of every person.
In moments like this, community becomes everything. We believe in showing up for one another, through care, unity, and resilience, and choosing humanity over fear.
Our deepest condolences are with the people of Tumbler Ridge. You are not alone. We are holding you in our hearts.
