Sajjad Ali CEO

After obtaining degrees in Computer Sciences and Electronics Engineering, and working in the industry for several years, Sajjad went on to launch Optyyl Technologies, an IT Business in the UK.  With a passion for education, he purchased Lincolns College in the UK and then Focus College in Canada. Sajjad was instrumental in bringing a standardized system of education to Canada. 

In 2017, Sajjad joined CanScribe Career College and co-launched Weave Enterprises, a start-up tech company which uses the resources of Optyyl Technologies. His passion for charitable work and helping others motivated him to co-found HELPUS.CARE with his business partner; a charity which focuses on Health, Education, Loans and Protection, to those in need around the world.

Colleen Chapman President

Colleen’s background is both in finance and marketing. After working for several years in the ad agency biz, she founded CanScribe in 2002, Docnito in 2010, joined Focus College in 2016, and co-founded Weave Enterprises in 2017. Away from the office, Colleen enjoys hiking in the Okanagan and playing different sports. She loves to travel and especially enjoys experiencing different cultures, exploring new lands and meeting the locals.

Passionate about volunteer work and giving back, Colleen spent 12 years coaching youth soccer, has sat on various non-profit boards, and has been involved in Angel investing. She has volunteered in orphanages and travelled to Nepal twice to build schools and sponsor micro-loans for women in need. Colleen and her business partner started their own charity called HELPUS.CARE, which focuses on Health, Education, Loans and Protection, around the globe.

Brian Schumacher Vice President Operations

New to Kelowna, but not new to post-secondary education, our VP Operations, Brian Schumacher brings with him over 20 years of post-secondary and senior leadership experience. While at the University of Regina’s Paul J. Hill School of Business, Brian taught a number of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level and also developed and delivered numerous executive training seminars. Brian also took on a leadership position within the faculty having been thrice appointed as Associate Dean (Undergraduate). 

While in the Associate Dean role, Brian worked to establish and strengthen exchange partnerships with peer institutions in China, Central America, and Europe.  Brian’s experience in pursuing accreditation while at the Hill School will also augment our efforts to continue and further existing Focus College accreditation and pursue partnerships to expand the opportunities for the College and our students.

Joshua Ajayi IT Support

Joshua graduated from University with a Degree in Computer Science with Economics. He worked for 3 years as a Network and System Administrator for an oil and gas servicing company before moving to Canada to continue his career journey.

Josh works as the IT Support Specialist at Focus College and is always willing to take on new projects and help out in different departments, as the needs arise. 

Dr. Khyati Shetty Abbotsford Campus Director

A recipient of the GCC Education Leaders Award-2019, Top 100 Global Training and Development Minds-2018,GCC Women Leaders Award-2017 and the former Dean of Curtin University  (ranked top 230 universities in the world) , Dr. Khyati Shetty comes with 15+ years of experience working in academia. Her passion for transforming individuals led her to flourish by working with high potential leaders, executives and entrepreneurs and has conducted over 300+ workshops in 10+ countries. She has also been working as a leadership consultant for Government bodies in Nigeria, Ghana, Dubai, Maldives and Mauritius. Khyati is a Certified Co-Active coach from CTI, USA, A Professional Co-active coach from the Coach Training Institute, USA, and a certified Psychometric Test Professional accredited assessor and SFHEA (UK). She holds a degree in MBA (Marketing), PG Degree in Human Resource Management and a Doctorate in Brand Personality Congruence. Her research interests are in the areas of Strategic Marketing, Branding and Women’s Entrepreneurship and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles. She also regularly contributes to Forbes and CNBC. She is currently the Campus Director of Focus College, Abbotsford.

Angelo Stradiotto Bylaw Instructor

Angelo Stradiotto has been working in Law Enforcement for over 24 years and has held many different positions within his career. He has worked with both BC Corrections and BC Sheriffs Service as well as working for the Delta Police Department and finally settling in the Okanagan with Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement and with the West Kelowna Bylaw department. Angelo has experience instructing at the Justice Institute and internally with various agencies. He is an avid soccer player and holds both his certified coaching and refereeing certificates. He enjoys his time away from work with his wife and young son as well as riding his motorcycle whenever he can get away.

Pardeep Rathore Information Technology Instructor

Pardeep is a full stack developer and Software Development (Information Technology) instructor at Focus College. He graduated from University of British Columbia with Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Computer Science and Minor was Data Science. Apart from Canadian education, Pardeep did Bachelor of Computer Application degree and Master in Business Administration from Punjab Technical University.

He loves building web applications and solving complex problem. His area of interest is Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. David Worthington Bylaw Instructor

David started his bylaw career pounding the pavement with the City of Vancouver parking enforcement department.

He then took his talents to the bylaw department at the District of North Vancouver, dealing with bylaws ranging from Construction, Noise, Waste, Environmental, Property Use and more.

Currently, David resides in Victoria and is part of the bylaw team for the Islands Trust, a special purpose government mandated to preserve and protect over 450 Islands in the Salish Sea.

Allan Holbrook Software Development Instructor/Lead

Allan has been working in Information Technology for more than 30 years. After graduating from the University of British Columbia, he quickly became accomplished as a highly respected systems software specialist. In the last 20 years, Allan ran his own start-up venture, provided architectural services to several large organizations and designed some of the most complex database solutions in the industry.

Through Focus College, Allan enjoys teaching the next generation of students how his passion for a career in technology can be theirs as well. Focus College response to Covid-19

Due to the current pandemic and the desire to protect the health of our students, Focus College is taking measures which incorporate social isolation.

For current students:

We are suspending our Advanced Diploma and Office Manager courses for the week of March 16-20th, to allow for temporary distance learning to be set up. If any students do not have access to a computer from home, we request that they notify the college immediately. Further information on how courses will be delivered will be available as the week goes on. Please monitor your student email for further information throughout the week.
